Jerry Lee Lewis Flamboyant And Controversial Rock N Roll Pioneer Dies At 87
The last survivor of a generation of groundbreaking performers that included Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and Little Richard, Lewis died at his home in Memphis, Tenn., spokesman Zach Farnum said in a statement. Lewis had suffered a minor stroke in 2019, but had been playing live shows frequently until then. Most recently, he was unable to attend his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame due to illness.
