UPDATE: 15:15 A home on Silver Star Road was destroyed by fire Tuesday afternoon. BX Swan Lake Fire Chief Bill Wacey says no one was home when the fire started and quickly spread to surrounding woods in the heavily wooded area near Vernon. Little remains of the single-family home except smoldering debris and a brick chimney. Wacey says by the time firefighters got to the scene, the house was already engulfed. At the moment there is no danger and crews are sweeping the scene. Photo: Tracey Prediger UPDATE: 14:45 Fire crews sweep and repair the scene of a structure fire on Silver Star Road near Vernon. Emergency social services support is being sought for the homeowner. So far, the extent of the damage caused by the fire has not been known. UPDATE: 2:03 p.m Silver Star Road remains open and RCMP are at the scene of the structure fire. A BC ambulance crew is also on scene. Less smoke can be seen in the area, but the actual structure is not visible from the road as it is hidden by trees. ORIGINAL: 1:35 p.m There are reports of a fire on Silver Star Road. Several units from the BX Lake Fire Department are responding to the fire, which is located in the 8400 block. Castanet will have more information as it becomes available.
