MUST SEE: Canada’s November forecast: Winter weather is coming

This week: Snowfall warnings have been issued for the next strong winter-like storm

Snow warnings are in effect for northern and southern Alberta, where heavy snow will fall Tuesday into Wednesday. More warnings are likely to be issued on Tuesday as rain starts to push eastwards. “Visibility may suddenly decrease at times in heavy snowfall,” says Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) in the warning. “Bad weather can contribute to transportation delays. Take frequent breaks and avoid strain when clearing snow.” Snowfall rates may intensify slightly Wednesday as high pressure moves south and leads to more updrafts and enhanced snowfall along the southern foothills RELATED: Why the first snowfall of the season can catch drivers by surprise Snow, combined with gusty winds between 30-50 km/h could affect travel time across Alberta and into central Saskatchewan through Wednesday. Snow will begin to taper off across Alberta Wednesday night, though it will continue for Saskatchewan and Manitoba into the afternoon hours on Thursday. The system will then move east of the Prairies by Thursday afternoon.
