Comment A warm spell is starting and today’s temperatures soared deep into the 60s despite lots of clouds. Although it’s been dry so far apart from a quick Halloween shower, that’s changing as we head into the evening. Some poorly timed showers move in tonight before sunshine and 70s return Tuesday. Until tonight: Unfortunately for trick-or-treating, raindrops are a good bet for much of the evening. There may be some lull for a bit in the early afternoon maybe somewhere in the 5-7pm time frame. It’s hard to say if it’ll be enough to help much, though. Showers may be heaviest for a little while later in the evening, before falling around midnight. Temperatures will be on the mild side, staying in the upper 60s in most spots into the evening, on the way down into the mid 50s to near 60s. There may be some patchy late fog. Watch this current weather in the Washington Post. Tomorrow (Tuesday): Clouds may still be present in the morning, but will decrease over time. Partly to mostly sunny conditions in the afternoon will help warm the temperature near and above 70. North winds around 10 mph, with gusts near 20 mph. Check out Jason Samenow’s weekend forecast. Scary weather: This is the first Halloween with measurable rain in Washington since 2019, when 1.25 inches fell. Although our average high is below 64 degrees, four of the last five Halloweens have been at least as warm as today. The hottest October 31 was back in 1950, when the high reached 85 degrees. In 1925, he only reached 41, during DC’s coldest Halloween. As recently as 2002, it was a chilly 47 for the highs. Want our 5am forecast delivered to your inbox? Register here.
