Police say the shooting happened just before 3:30 p.m. in the front yard of the school. A male victim was located with gunshot wounds and was transported to a trauma center in life-threatening condition. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The second victim, a teenage boy, was also taken to a trauma center via EMS after being taken to a local hospital, police say. His condition is unknown. Toronto Police Service (TPS) Inspector Lori Cranenburg told media at the scene that both victims are believed to be teenagers, but could not confirm whether either victim was a student at Woburn Collegiate. “It looks like there were several shots fired, but I don’t have an exact number. We are currently reviewing the video and examining the area,” Kranenburg said. Woburn Collegiate was initially placed on lockdown while police conducted a sweep of the facility. However, at around 16:30 the police started escorting students out of the building. Woburn Junior Public School was also briefly placed on lockdown which has now been lifted. Parents were told they could watch the south-east side of the school at Dorrington Drive and Ellesmere Road. So far no arrests have been made. Kranenburg said police do not have an updated description of a suspect, however the suspect was previously described as a black male wearing a black jacket and a COVID mask. TPS is asking anyone with information or cell phone/dash cam video to contact police.
