He pleaded not guilty at his initial hearing and was not granted bail, Carroll County District Attorney Nicholas McLelland said at the news conference. However, police have not disclosed how the girls were killed or the evidence they have gathered in the case. Days after the murders, officials released two grainy images of a man walking across an abandoned railroad bridge taken on Germano’s phone shortly before the girls’ remains were found in a wooded area off the Delphi Historic Trail. The phone also had a recording of a man, believed to be the killer, ordering the pair “down the hill”. Indiana State Police asked Miami County District Court for the Aug. 19 arraignment of Kegan Klein, 27. Days after the murders, authorities executed a search warrant on Ron Logan’s property, where the girls’ bodies were found. Logan had lied about his whereabouts on the day of the double murder, according to investigators. He died in January and was never publicly named as a suspect, according to FOX 59. In August, Indiana State Police asked Miami County District Court for custody of Indiana man Kegan Klein, 27, who is incarcerated on child pornography charges. Kegan Klein was allegedly behind the fictitious Instagram account “anthony_shots” which he used to communicate with underage girls – including Liberty German the day before she was found dead on a hiking trail. (Indiana State Police) Klein had contacted the German woman using the fake Instagram account “anthony_shots” the night before her murder, according to FOX 59. He reportedly made plans to meet her at the time she went missing, but Klein denied any involvement. The “Murder Sheet” podcast obtained a 2020 transcript of a police interview with Kline. He said he had given the password to “anthony_shots’s” profile to “a lot of people”.
