The shooting took place at around 7:54 p.m. at 4500 block of Laurel Canyon. The Los Angeles Fire Department transported the seriously injured police officer to a nearby hospital. The suspect fled before additional police arrived. However, the Los Angeles Police Department and the CHP went to an apartment complex off Haskell Avenue in Van Nuys after receiving the license plate number of the vehicle pulled by the police officer during the shooting. LAPD and CHP are likely to locate the suspect in an apartment near Reseda and Van Nuys 02:27 Upon arrival, they discovered a white Ford Fusion that matched the description of the car involved in the shooting. Police have devised a plan to deal with the suspect who he believed was trapped inside the apartment complex. Upon entering, authorities found only one roommate who was being held for questioning. Law enforcement authorities evacuated the building but did not find the suspect inside. Shortly after the LAPD SWAT arrived. Authorities believe they have limited the search area enough to encircle the suspect. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
