Essex county officials say it is in line with changes recently announced by the provincial government regarding COVID-19. “The county administration will monitor the situation of COVID-19 at local and provincial level, making future changes to corporate practices as required,” a county press release said. Members of the public, residents and staff are no longer required to wear masks while in county facilities, as long as they can be at least two meters (six feet) away from others. This includes Essex County Center, Essex County Library Branches, and other county-run buildings. The only exception is the Sun Parlor Home, where masks will continue to be mandatory to protect vulnerable residents, as required by the Ontario Department of Health and Long-Term Care. Essex-Windsor EMS staff members will continue to wear masks during all patient interactions and when entering any facility, such as a hospital or long-term care home, where coverage is required. They are no longer required to wear masks at EMS and county buildings and while in EMS vehicles, except when providing patient care. The Essex County Council will meet in person at the Civic Center on Wednesday, June 15, with members and staff maintaining a social distance when not wearing masks. Members of the public and the media are invited to participate by watching the live stream.
