The teenager was waiting for bus No. 9, which runs from Or Akiva to Binyamina-Givat Ada, on a hot day on Friday when the incident happened. Haaretz reports that the driver asked her if she had anything to hide. After telling the bus driver that she had no other clothes, the driver reportedly refused to let her get on the bus. The young girl told Haaretz: “I was shocked. I could not understand what was happening. Later I regretted not facing the driver. “I do not think the boys would be treated that way.” He added: “It took me a while to understand the situation. It’s very annoying. “I do not think the driver left me because of a chauvinistic approach.” The girl’s mother filed a complaint against the driver with the National Public Transport Authority when her daughter told her what had happened. The mother said: “His behavior in public is a serious violation of the basic rights we all have, and especially of human dignity.” She added that her daughter “grew up learning the importance of full equality. “No one can tell her what to wear.” The bus company Kavim said it would investigate the incident and that disciplinary action would be taken against the driver if it was found to have violated the company’s policies. “The company instructs its drivers to allow all passengers to use its services and board the bus regardless of their appearance,” the company told Haaretz.
