A man from Shuswap who secretly handed over sex toys to a young relative who was trying to seduce could spend more than a year behind bars. The hearing of the conviction of Christopher Klix began last week in the Supreme Court of K.B.E. The 29-year-old pleaded guilty last summer to an accusation of having sex. The court ruled that Clix has since moved to Manitoba, but lived in the summer of 2019 in the Malakwa area near Sicamous with his wife and young family. In July 2019, a 13-year-old relative visited Malakwa from outside the countryside to spend a few weeks with family in the area. The young teenager lived in a house near the Clix family and she spent time with his children. The girl told police that Clix approached her one day while playing with his children and started whispering sexually explicit comments in her ear, which were conveyed in a text message conversation. Crown prosecutor Sheron O’Connor described the conversation in detail, saying Klix asked the girl about her sexual history and previous relationship. “Sir. Clix would then give her advice on these matters,” Connor said. “Eventually, Mr. Clix tells her she likes it and has not had sex in months.” O’Connor said Klix then tried to normalize age gaps in the relationship by telling the girl he knew a 30-year-old man dating a 13-year-old girl. The court heard that he sent the teenager a photo of his erect penis and asked her to become his girlfriend. O’Connor said Klix also offered the girl his wife’s sex toys and hid many sex toys from the girl, which he hid in her luggage. The devices were later discovered by her family. No sexual intercourse was reported, the court said. O’Connor has asked BC Supreme Court Justice Sheri Donegan to sentence him to 12 to 18 months in prison, followed by a 24-month suspension that requires full treatment of the Klix for sexual misconduct and a ban on all contact with children. or an appointment with anyone who has children. He would also be barred from deleting his history on the Internet. The lawyers will meet on Monday to set a date for the continuation of the hearing of Klix’s sentence. Remains free with a guarantee.
