According to Environment Canada, you may want to keep your jacket and umbrella handy this week. A system that moved on Sunday night brings unstable weather for several days. “We’re going to see a dramatic change in the weather pattern from what we’ve seen across the Central Okanagan recently. We’re heading for a big change starting on Sunday as a new weather system approaches BC from Oregon,” said meteorologist Lisa Erven. “We will see increasing cloud cover and rainy periods starting from Sunday night to Monday and the rainfall will continue throughout the day on Tuesday and will eventually decrease on Tuesday night.” Extensive rains are forecast throughout the Interior. “Above the Central Okanagan, we could see total quantities of about 10 to 20 millimeters from that period Monday through Tuesday night,” Erven added. On Monday the temperature will be 14 degrees Celsius with rain. On Tuesday the temperature will reach 13 degrees Celsius with rain. On Wednesday the weather will reach 19 degrees with clouds. On Thursday you will see a 60 percent chance of rain with a higher temperature of 21 C. On Friday the temperature will be 25 degrees Celsius and clouds. Saturday looks like the most beautiful day of the week with a high temperature of 24 C with a combination of sun and clouds. Kelowna has seen a total of 30.5 millimeters of rain so far throughout June. “June is one of the wettest months of the year for Kelowna. We usually see about 45.9mm of rain, so we are well on our way to this whole of June and we are only here on June 12.” Erven says motorists will also have to wait for snow in the coming days on mountain passes due to falling frost levels. “Monday night through Tuesday morning – it will be places like the Okanagan Connector between Merritt and Kelowna.”
