Rory McIlroy achieved his 21st victory on the PGA Tour on Sunday with a victory at the RBC Canadian Open. McIlroy closed out the victory with an 8-under 62 to beat Justin Thomas and Tony Finau. This is the second consecutive time that he has won the tournament. He won it in 2019 and the tournament was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. As one of the faces of the PGA tour, McIlroy’s victory made a huge statement and overshadowed LIV Golf Commissioner Greg Norman. Norman told the Washington Post that McIlroy had been “brainwashed” by the PGA tour. McIlroy responded with a victory at St. George’s, beating Norman on the all-time PGA Tour list. “This is a day I will remember for a very, very long time. Twenty-one PGA Tour wins, one more than anyone else,” he said shortly after the victory. The guy who is leading this tour has 20 wins on the PGA Tour and I was tied to him and I wanted to catch him. And I did.
