Spokesman Jamie Ruskin avoided questioning evidence that Republican lawmakers had pardoned then-President Donald Trump following the Capitol Uprising on January 6, 2021, saying details would be revealed later. CNN presenter Dana Bash asked Raskin on Sunday about MP Liz Cheney’s remark last Thursday that many members of the Congressional GOP, including Scott Scott Perry, had apologized to Trump after the uprising “for his role. in an effort to overthrow the 2020 elections. ” Ruskin, a Democrat, and Cheney, a Republican, are both members of the House committee investigating the uprising. “How many of your colleagues in Congress did this and what evidence do you have? Because you know Congressman Scott Perry denies it,” Bass asked on Sunday. Ruskin replied, “Yes, well, the search for grace is a strong testament to the guilt consciousness, or at least the consciousness that you may have a problem, and that is what is so shocking about it. It is not just one.” Bass then intervened, asking: “Do you have any evidence that this happened?” “There are a lot of members of Congress, as the vice president said at our inaugural hearing, and in due course the details will come to light,” Ruskin said, referring to Cheney. Bash followed, “Well, yes, is there evidence?” Ruskin replied: “Everything we do is documented … Everything we do is based on facts and this is a bipartisan investigation that is determined to reveal all the facts of what happened.” Cheney did not name any lawmakers other than Perry in her allegation last Thursday at the commission’s first public hearing on Jan. 6. Perry replied: “The idea that I ever asked for a presidential pardon for myself or other members of Congress is an outright, shameless and lifeless lie.” The committee’s second public hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Monday.
