A high school student in Central Saanich is recovering at home after being attacked by several people wearing face masks. Central Saanich police were dispatched to Stelly’s Secondary School at approximately 11:20 a.m. on Friday for reports that a student was attacked in the school parking lot by some people who hid their identities with face masks. The attackers used weapons such as knives and hammers, the sergeant said. Paul Brailey, and is believed to be associated with an older black BMW sedan. It is not known if they are associated with the school. The student was taken to hospital for treatment, but is now recovering at home, police said. Braille said the incident is under investigation, but police believe the attack was most likely the target. Dave Eberwein, principal of Saanich School District, said the incident was a matter of concern to students and staff. “Of course we never want or wish it in any of our schools,” he said. “Stelly’s management did a great job interacting with the police and following the protocols. “Things went very well.” Central Saanich police are asking anyone who may have seen the attack to contact them at 250-652-4441.
