Newfoundland and Labrador’s Pushup Man are back again this summer to support mental health. Every year Bill Guiney takes to the streets to walk and do pushups, raising awareness and money for mental health along the way. Last year, Guiney walked from Port aux Basque to Signal Hill, doing ten push ups for every mile traveled. He gained tons of support from people who decided to walk with him and raised money for the Canadian Mental Health Association. This year, Guiney’s efforts will focus on the Irish Loop. He will walk 10 kilometers in 5 different communities in and around his city. Guiney knows his challenges are important in opening up the mental health dialogue and letting people know that they are not the only ones going through it. Guiney talks about his daughter’s previous mental health problems. He goes on to say that if mental health is an open book, no one will feel alone.
