© 2022 Porsche Cars North America, Inc. Porsche celebrates the 70th anniversary of the iconic 356 America Roadster with a new 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America Edition. The limited edition convertible sports car – only 115 will be built in total – will be on display later this year for the 2023 model. The America version will only be sold in North America. With such a low production volume, the vehicle will be one of the rarest Type-992 models ever released by Porsche. (The bet is that it is already sold out by the time you read it.) In particular, there is something special about getting on the road with an open 911 with a manual transmission that fits in perfectly here, “said Kjell Gruner, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America. “This is also the perfect time to add another ‘America’ model to our history as we look back 70 years on the 356 America Roadster and 30 years on the 964 America Roadster.” The 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America Edition is based on the 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, but has been redesigned with select options and unique cosmetic enhancements to differentiate it from its standard siblings – the 1953 356 America Roadster was inspired by the construction specifications. Azure Blue was chosen as the main exterior color, with the convertible top to black. The windshield is in Satin Black (this is the first Type-992 to have this unique treatment). On this note, white wheels with a Guards Red stripe are also an unusual offer from the automaker (the last factory-produced white Porsche was the 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0). Highlights on the outside are decals in white with Guards Red Accents that say “America” (the model designation on the back cover is two-tone in white and Guards Red). The main color of the interior is black – the solid shade was chosen as it better highlights the unique seams Guards Red and Pebble Gray (Porsche notes that gray was chosen because the contrast of pure white was very strong). The standard equipment includes the two-tone seam on the seats, the center console (where “America” is embossed on the armrest) and uniquely illuminated door sills (with commemorative wording). An optional extended interior package adds contrast-resistant seams to the steering wheel, trunk and a Guards Red pattern on the shift lever. Porsche has even painted the key in Azure Blue to match the color of the vehicle. Standard 7-speed manual transmission © 2022 Porsche Cars North America, Inc. Mounted on the rear of the chassis is Porsche’s now-famous twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-6 engine, set to deliver 473 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. Porsche only offers the 7-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive in this unique model to emphasize the American driving market. The Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) Sport is standard equipment, as are the Sport Exhaust and Sport Chrono Package. Options include rear axle steering and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB). Beautiful contrasting seams. © 2022 Porsche Cars North America, Inc. Of the 115 units, Porsche will ship 100 to the United States and 15 to the Canadian market. The 2023 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America will have an initial MSRP of $ 184,920 (excluding $ 1,450 for delivery, processing and handling). The MSRP for the model with the extended internal package is $ 192,430 (excluding $ 1,450 for delivery, processing and handling).
