The prince lost his coveted role along with other military titles and royal tutelage in January. The monarch’s embarrassed second son resigned from public life after rage over his friendship with pedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein and after paying millions to settle a political sexual assault case against Virginia Giuffre. Prince Andrew claims he has never met Ms Giuffre and has denied all charges against him. Nearly six months later, he not only wants to be reinstated as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, but also wants to be able to attend royal engagements with other members of the royal family, according to The Telegraph. The newspaper reported that he is also pushing for his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Eugenia, to be given the royal status. “The colonel of the Grenadier Guards was his most coveted title and she wants him back,” the Telegraph quoted a royal source as saying. “Having remained an Adviser to the State, he also believes that he should be involved in royal and state events.” Andrew inherited the title from the Duke of Edinburgh after retiring from public life in 2017 (AFP / Getty Images) Ever since he was removed from all official duties, the prince has taken a step away from public life – only making an appearance at the memorial of Prince Philip in March. Although Prince Andrew was expected to appear in public at the Order of Zartiera at Windsor Castle on Monday, it has now been reported that he has been barred from appearing in public. The Sunday Times had reported that Prince Andrew, who is Knight Garter, would be present with senior members of the royal family on Monday for the annual service at St George’s Chapel. But the Sun said the heirs to the throne, the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Cambridge, had put pressure on the Queen over the issue. The senior members of the royal family feared a “reaction”, the newspaper reported, adding that Princes Charles and William reportedly agreed on their approach before telling the queen, who made the final decision. Buckingham Palace and a spokesman for Prince Andrew contacted him for comment.
