A popular Eastern European restaurant in Carmichael was destroyed Sunday morning after a fire broke out in the building for the second time this week, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District. “I would say at least a lot of damage, but it is very likely to be a total loss,” said Metro Fire spokesman Capt. Parker Wilbourn. Firefighters responded to reports of flames around 3:16 p.m. Sunday at Elena’s Kitchen & Catering at 6620 Madison Avenue in Carmichael. No one was inside the building when the fire broke out and no injuries were reported. Crews were out for about four hours trying to control the fire, Wilbourn said. This fire is not related to the first restaurant fire of the week, which broke out on Thursday morning in its industrial kitchen. The building suffered structural damage and the flames were quickly contained in the first fire, according to the area. More information about the weekend fire remains under investigation by the local arson unit. Wilborn said that Elena would probably fall with bulldozers. The package store specializes in grilled beef pies and dishes. It opened its doors in 2017. This story was originally published on June 12, 2022 at 3:45 p.m. Related stories from the Sacramento Bee
