Anger has erupted after a video surfaced of Metropolitan Police officers allegedly throwing punches at a teenager during an arrest. One viewer claimed that the boy was “trampled” during the incident in south-east London on Friday. He was called “outrageous” by people on social media, who claimed that the violence used was unjustified. The Met said the body-worn video would be evaluated, adding that any use of force by officers should be considered necessary and appropriate. The scenario arose when a child was robbed and threatened with a bottle by a group of men, a spokesman said. After a search, police went to a house in Abbey Wood and found the stolen property. A 16-year-old boy tried to escape the scene and was arrested, but another teenager of the same age allegedly attacked police – leaving two with minor injuries. Sharing the video on Twitter, Carina White, a media commentator, reportedly said: “Hey Met Police, I’re just wondering if this is a reasonable and appropriate use of force to arrest a 16-year-old? Kicks and punches ??? ». He went on to claim that the teenager “went to see if his friend was well as he saw the police in his garden and that was the end result”, adding: “The police were not even there for him”. Responding to her tweet, a social media user said: “It is the fact that he has fallen and blows are still falling, that makes me angry.
