“West Side Story” and Oscar-winning star Ariana DeBose is the show’s host and spoke to CNN earlier this week about what to expect. “I think I will do what everyone thinks I will do, which is to sing and dance and try to play and exaggerate,” he said with a laugh. “And I might surprise some people, who know it goes live from shore to shore … and that’s what makes it exciting. There’s nothing like live theater.” A self-proclaimed theatrical lover, DeBose said she turned to previous Tony Awards performances to prepare for her role on Sunday. “I’ve watched countless, countless shows for the Tony Awards and I’m not James Corden, I’m definitely not Neil Patrick Harris or Hugh Jackman. And I’m not Whoopi Goldberg, but I’m inspired by it all. “, Said DeBose. “I’m excited about it because it’s a playground for me. I’ve never done that, so I’m kind of experimenting and the good thing is that I love these people and I’m not bothered to look them in the face and look a little stupid to them. “People I love. So here you go!”
