Hamilton police said it happened on York Boulevard near the ramp to West Highway 403 around 7:30 p.m. According to police, a 61-year-old man was driving a 2003 Nissan sedan heading south on York Boulevard, crossing the high-rise bridge when, for unknown reasons, he entered the north lanes, hitting a 2008 Jeep Liberty driven by a 30-year-old -old man. Police said the jeep then turned counterclockwise and collided with a 2022 Mercedes Benz driven by a 27-year-old American. The driver of the Nissan was released by the fire brigade and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said Hamilton rescuers assessed the driver of the Jeep and four occupants of the Mercedes. Two female Mercedes passengers were taken to hospital with minor injuries, police said. The cause of the collision is unknown. Police said disability and speed “have not yet been ruled out as factors”. The collision resulted in the closure of the roads for six hours for the search. Sunday’s accident is Hamilton’s 13th car accident of the year.
