The Navy will take off the units on Monday as part of a security review following several deadly crashes. A Marine Osprey crashed June 8 in the California desert, killing five Marines during a training exercise. More than 40 people have died in Osprey accidents since 1991, according to the Washington Post. As a result of the crash, the Commander of the Navy Air Force instructed all underdeveloped Navy Air Force units to conduct a “safety pause” on June 13 to review risk management practices and training in hazardous situations, the Navy said in a statement.
