Newfoundland and Labrador have the highest life satisfaction rates of any province in the country. This is according to new data released by the Statistical Service of Canada. According to their numbers, just over 61 percent of people gave a “life satisfaction score” between eight and 10. This number is much higher than the average for Canada as a whole, which is 51 percent. When broken down by gender, the rate was 66 percent for men in this province, also the highest in Canada. The figure was 57 percent for women, which is higher than the national average of 50 percent, and second only to Quebec nationwide. Statistics Canada looked at six factors that contribute to quality of life, half of which are related to social connections, such as life satisfaction, sense of purpose and purpose, future perspective, loneliness, having someone to you also rely on belonging to the local community. Statistics show that Ontario is the loneliest province, with 15 percent of people saying they always or often feel alone, while 59 percent of people in that province say they rarely or never feel alone.
