According to the latest figures from the Ontario Ministry of Health, 370 people are currently being treated for COVID-19.
The last time the county reported less than 370 people in hospital with COVID-19 was on December 20, 2021, when officials recorded 284 hospitalizations.
Meanwhile, importers in the ICU increased slightly from 110 to 112.
It should be noted that not all hospitals report patient data over the weekend.
Of those patients at the hospital, the county says 42 are breathing with the help of a ventilator because of COVID-19. That’s eight fewer people than a week ago.
One week ago, 419 patients with COVID-19 were hospitalized, of which 111 in ICU.
With 6,884 PCR tests processed in the last 24 hours, the province reports a positive rate of 6.5 cents. That compares with 7.1 percent right now last week and 8.6 percent two weeks ago.
There are currently 13,338 COVID-19 cumulative cases in Ontario, bringing the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases in the province to 1,312,844.
Several epidemiologists and public health experts predict that transmission will remain low throughout the summer, but said rates could rise as soon as people get inside when the coldest weather strikes.
Today, the ministry added two net new deaths to its COVID-19 report, which now stands at 13,338. It has added 50 new net deaths to its account since this period last week.
There are currently 57 active cases in long-term care homes, 32 in nursing homes and 21 in hospitals, compared to 73, 33 and 22 respectively last week.
