The collision occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday in the east lanes of the 401 freeway east of Morningside Avenue.
According to Ontario Provincial Police. Kerry Schmidt, the driver, hit a wall. The vehicle then overturned and landed in a ditch.
Toronto rescuers said they transported a man and a woman to a trauma center.
Schmidt, in a video posted on social media, said the woman victim suffered “life-changing injuries.”
Collectors east of Highway 401 in Morningside are now closed as police conduct an investigation. There is now a conflict recovery team at the scene.
Drivers will be forced to cross the 401 express lanes, said Schmidt, who urges drivers to avoid the area all together.
This closure is expected to take several hours.
