Begum, who has been named the bride of ISIS since leaving the United Kingdom at the age of 15 to join the terrorist group, has lived in Syrian refugee camps since trying to obtain her British passport last year. The Mirror says it is likely to face prosecution after officials began investigating its links to ISIS.

Begum was one of three teenage girls who stunned the UK in 2015 when they traveled to Syria to become jihadi brides. Begum said she took care of herself online before leaving the UK with her friends Amira Abase and Kadiza Sultana. Among the allegations Begum faces is that she helped build suicide bombs for ISIS terrorists. The Rozawa region is self-governing and not under the control of the Syrian regime. Begum’s friends say she has little faith in the judiciary there and remains desperate to return to Britain. A source told The Sun: “Begum has convinced herself that she will pay the highest price if she is tried and found guilty of terrorist offenses in Syria. She was told she would be tried in Rosava, most likely as one of a group of women charged with terrorist offenses. “She has not been given a date yet, but she has been told it will be around September or October. Rozava authorities do not support the death penalty, but that has not convinced her that she will not escape such punishment.” Last year, Begum tried to get her passport back, but failed in her attempt at the Supreme Court to return to Britain to deal with her case in person. Investigators in Rosava are believed to be examining Begum’s allegations, which include a statement that she “did not bother” seeing heads in bins. Begum insisted she “did not know ISIS was a cult of death” and said she did not want to harm anyone. Lawyer Tasnime Akunjee, who has played for Begum in the past, said: “I feel that her fears are justified. “The judicial system there is somewhat meager.” Read more related articles Read more related articles
