Karen Smith, the mother of the missing Justin Stanley Smith, says the RCMP contacted her and believes she has pictures of her son using an ATM in the Vancouver area on Thursday night and again on Friday. “This is good news,” Smith told CTV News from her home in Nova Scotia. “He has not been found yet, but we know he is still walking, he is still alive, that is the big thing.” Justin was last informed on May 27 and had to get his good friend Leegion Brooks, from whom he had borrowed a vehicle. Brooks and others became concerned when Justin did not come to the surface and also lost his rent at his home in Fanny Bay, BC. Friends conducted exhaustive research in the back of Vancouver Island, knowing that he is an outdoor man. “He is a very outdoor person and I know he can survive in the bushes. He also has a lot of friends in the Vancouver area,” he says. “His friends have made – I can not even imagine – thousands of dollars,” said Smith. “Only one took eight days off work, has made more than $ 800 in fuel looking for him.” Smith said she is very grateful to those who sought her son, including the help provided by the RCMP and the media. She says she believes her son was in a bad mood after the death of a very good friend recently and other issues that have emerged from his past. “This is really an unusual thing for Justin. This is so unusual for him. “Obviously something is happening that we do not know about,” he said. He says the case of the missing person has been transferred to the Vancouver police. “They have a video from last night, they were 99.9 percent sure it was Justin,” he said. “He has used his bank card about three times in the last 24 hours.”
